Gafney’s viewpoint in Womanist Midrash is clear-that no path to Shalom exists at all unless women, people of color, and other oppressed people journey with us. Despite being formatted as a reference book, when taken as a whole, Rev. Womanist Midrash is the structural outlier of the three books discussed in this paper. Womanist Midrash: Recovering the Lost Imago Dei Gafney's book, as well as the two new volumes currently available for pre-order, A Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church, Year A and Year W. I recently wrote a longer essay (which also featured analysis of The Very Good Gospel by Lisa Sharon Harper, and The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Herschel) and it occurred to me that this section, in particular, might be a good one to share.
